Sometimes things transpire and you have no control over
what or how things may have taken place. This is what makes death so hard to accept when something horrific happens to someone
that you have known or loved. Their time spent here on this place called earth
is so precious. Avery Waddell Jr. a.k.a. Smurf died on August 31st
in New York City at the tender age of 22. He was murdered in his home in Brooklyn,
by someone with no respect for life itself .
Smurf
was born on May 9, 1979 in Harrisburg PA to the proud parents of Mr. Avery Waddell Sr. and Mrs. Sanitta Waddell. He was an only child. From the day he was born he had a glow
about him that would shine forever. Smurf started his education at Lincoln Elementary
School and then moved on to middle school. He attended John Harris High School and was a distinguished honor roll student and graduated as the salutatorian in 1997, while taking pre-college
courses at Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC). He then moved onto Princeton University located in New Jersey, to start to layout the blueprint of his future. Smurf majored in finance and he graduated from the Ivy League school in May 2001. He then moved on to New York City and accepted a job working for a bank on Wall Street.
Even
though he worked on Wall Street he still craved for what many M.C.’s love to do, “rippin a microphone.”
Along with a promising solo Mcing career, Smurf was part of the group Untouchable Poetical Terrorists(U.P.T). King Wreck, a rhyming partner and maternal uncle of Smurf’s referred to him as Harrisburg’s Rakim because
of the way he intertwined book smarts with street smarts in his lyrics. He contributed verses on the “Next Breath” Compilation EP along with a few
of his former group members. Smurf wasn’t just one dimensional. He produced two of the songs on the “Next Breath” Compilation EP that were rather
impressive. He is featured on two tracks entitled “Da Ambush” and “Pressure” off “Da Ambush” Compilation
which has soared over 9,000 units. He also contributed verses on local DJ’s mixtapes that fans should definitely cherish.
Smurf will
be remembered as a really powerful and humble person, who always looked out for everybody, especially friends and family. He will never be forgotten because he lives on through his music. Rest In Peace Smurf. Spirits Live Forever!
